With August bank holiday coming up fast, music punters from across Europe are getting ready to descend on Reading festival. Situated on the banks of the River Thames, the festival is set to welcome a succulent pallet of artists as it keeps its reputation as one of the powerhouses of British festival scene. Kasabian, Muse and rap demigod Eminem take their places at the top of the bill for the three day shin-dig on Richfield Avenue.
The festival, which has been a feature of the British summer since 1955, sold out of its weekend tickets three weeks in advance; those who did snap one up will be treated to music from right across the genres. As well as the three afore mentioned headline acts, a certain Liam Gallagher will also be taking to the main stage after indie newcomers Blossoms. Both will be playing on the Sunday and there will be the final couple of instalments to a top weekend.
As well as the main stage, the NME stage and the Pit/Lock up (depending on the day) are both packed with talent. You Me at Six, Sundara Karma, Billy Talent, the Amity Affliction and Breaking Benjamin are just some of the dozens of performers on these two stages alone of the course of the festival; you won’t have a problem picking out acts from what the other stages have to offer!
Reading has had its critics in recent years for having too much of a bias on one genre; however this year’s line-up certainly has more to offer. Whether you’re heading for one day or three, top quality acts will be on show in abundance; so you shouldn’t have too much spare time.
